  1. What is a vaccine and what are they used for:

A vaccine is a substance that stimulates the body’s immune system to produce antibodies. This helps protect against an infection from any of thousands of diseases, such as measles or chickenpox. There are two types: live and inactivated. A live vaccine contains weakened microorganisms which cannot cause illness because they do not multiply inside one’s body. Examples of live vaccines include measles, mumps and rubella. An inactivated vaccine contains microorganisms that have been killed or weakened with chemicals so they can’t multiply inside one’s body. Examples of inactivated vaccines include polio, hepatitis A and influenza.

  1. Why should you get vaccinated:

The CDC provides routine vaccine schedules for infants through adulthood. Our APHA certified pharmacists are trained on these guidelines and can help ensure you and your family are caught up on all of your vaccinations.
